The Department of Radiation Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute has an immediate opening for a graduate student to act as a part-time programmer/developer. The initial appointment is for six months but may be extended, and will require 15-20 hours per week at an hourly rate of $15. The Roswell Park campus is located in downtown Buffalo. The work schedule can be flexible to accommodate classes during the school semester.

The student will develop, test, and debug code as part of a project to optimize radiation dose calculations. Extensive programming experience with Matlab and C/C++ on Linux/Unix platforms is essential. A strong background in matrix algebra and numerical methods is also required. Experience with optimization techniques and the Matlab Optimization Toolbox is preferred. Experience with distributed-computing systems and knowledge of Perl or other programming languages would be helpful. No previous experience/training in medicine or medical physics is necessary.
