New Account FAQ

What is my username?

Your CCR username is the same as your UBIT username. If you are not a UB affiliated faculty, staff or student, please contact CCR Help for assistance with your account.

I got a password reset email but the website is not accepting my temporary password.

a. When you initially navigate to the MyCCR website you will be prompted to enter your UBIT username and password. This is authenticating you as a valid UB user. Please do not try to enter your temporary CCR password here. This is what the UB login page looks like:

b. If you are clicking on the link, make sure your email did not truncate the URL. If it did span the web address across multiple lines, you'll need to copy all the text into your browser or the link will not work. You may get an error such as: "Error: The link you were given is invalid. If you copied and pasted
the link from the email try again."

c. You need to select a strong password that is at least 8 characters and includes a combination of letters and numbers. For information on selecting a strong password, please visit UBIT's password website.

d. You must be on a UB network to utilize this website. If you are off-campus, please use the UB VPN client to establish a connection on the UB network. To download the VPN client, visit UBIT's website.

e. If you navigate to the MyCCR website without clicking the password link, you will need to enter your current password in order to select a new one. Copying the temporary password from your email does not always work. Some email clients/browsers add an additional carriage return which makes the password fail. If you are getting an error when trying to reset your password, it is best to manually type in the temporary password instead of copying and pasting from the email.

I can't login to MyCCR

a. When you initially navigate to the MyCCR website you will be prompted to enter your UBIT username and password. This is authenticating you as a valid UB user. If your UBIT and CCR passwords are different, make sure you're entering your UB password for this login. This is what the UB login page looks like:

b. You must be on a UB network to utilize this website. If you are off-campus, please use the UB VPN client to establish a connection on the UB network. To download the VPN client, visit UBIT's website.

I reset my password but it is not working when I try to login to some resources.

We have tried to incorporate as many clusters and systems as possible in our central authentication system to allow for easier password resets and account management. However, there are several legacy systems that are not included in MyCCR and do require separate password resets. If you requested an account on one of the following systems you will receive a separate password to use. If you need your password reset on any of these systems, please email CCR Help:

  • lennon (SGI Altix)
  • VectorNTI
  • hatfield (bioinformatics command line applications)
  • sequest
  • harry (mascot)

All other clusters, web portals, and PI systems are included in MyCCR. If you want to change your password for one system, it will be changed for all that you have access to.

How do I know what systems I have access to?

When you login to MyCCR your dashboard page gives a listing of what systems, clusters, and web portals you have access to. If you would like have access to additional resources or if you feel this page is reporting incorrectly, please email ccr-help@ccr.buffalo.edu. Students: your faculty advisor, instructor, or PI must request additional resources for you. This is what the MyCCR dashboard looks like:

I still don't get this new password and account management system!

As always, whenever you need help just email us! CCR Help
