Education

CCR staff offer various training programs to teach users about running on our clusters, parallel computing, grid computing, and Bioinformatics resources. Graduate level courses in high performance computing are also offered at the university.

Education and outreach at the high school level is also thriving at CCR which has hosted workshops in computational science for high school students for several years. Based on the success of these summer workshops and a desire to have a broader impact on science and math education at the high school level in WNY, a pilot program in computational science was launched with 3 local high schools in the Fall of 2003. The high school program is a year-long extracurricular activity. CCR has developed a self-guided course in bioinformatics targeted at the high school level, with many useful, self-contained modules that the teacher can incorporate into their curriculum.
